It’s a role that comes with significant scrutiny, so it’s important that you have a good appreciation of the dynamics of operating within a political setting, and that you can negotiate and influence effectively on priorities to achieve consensus.
You will already have a proven track record in managing a capital development programme and as well as detailed knowledge of appropriate financial, legal and planning processes/regulations, it’s likely that you’ll have a relevant project management qualification. Your technical expertise will be backed up by excellent people skills, a forward-thinking mindset and the communication skills that together will enable you to articulate a clear vision for this function and secure buy-in from key stakeholders.
